Invercargill Waihōpai

Art Fetiche offers the expertise to produce an array of projects, from personalised bronze casting to stunning steel pou, with the ability to bring any vision to life. Waihōpai Rūnaka provided mana whenua perspective and inspiration for the Invercargill City Council street upgrades on Esk and Don. Mahi Toi works were the creative outcomes collaboratively developed by design teams Isthmus and Paetoi with local carver, James York.  Two steel-clad pou, ‘Mahika Kai’ and ‘Te Kāika’ overlook community gathering areas on Don and Esk. Cast mahika kai figurines lurk along paths that meander around garden beds.  Patterns etched in stone pavers reflect the area’s natural wetlands and ngahere bush.  All are scattered throughout for everyone to discover and enjoy.
