The final phase of the project involved constructing a 35-meter-long avalanche shelter, which serves as the entrance to the tunnel. This innovative shelter was meticulously designed to be both portable and modular, consisting of 165 pre-cast concrete modules that were assembled on-site, resembling a colossal Lego construction. Additionally, the shelter incorporates breathtaking artwork vapor blasted by us, illustrating the deep connection between Ngāi Tahu and Milford Sound, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the infrastructure.
